ON MOTIVATION FEATURES OF THE OLD CHINESE PLANT NAMES (BY THE MATERIAL OF THE DICTIONARY "THE ERH-YA")

Abstract. The article is devoted to the motivological aspect of the examination of flora vocabulary. By the material of the botanic terminology of one of the sections of the "Erh-ya" dictionary (the III-II centuries B.C.) the main features underlying the nomination of the plant names of the Old Chinese language are analyzed. All the features revealed in the course of the research are divided into categories and illustrated by examples.
