REPRESENTATION OF THE CONCEPT "EMPIRICISM" BY PHRASEOLOGICAL MEANS OF LANGUAGE IN THE ENGLISH LINGUOCULTURE

Abstract. The article presents the results of the study of the English concept EMPIRICISM by the material of its phraseological embodiment. The paper reveals culturally significant characteristics of the concept, illustrating the peculiarities of the value orientation of the linguocultural community: the British empiricism is the wish to act, aspiration for the practical rather than the theoretical sense; the ability to benefit for themselves; the deliberation of actions; the triumph of deeds, not words; mercantilism; calculation; emotional restraint; caution preferred to risk; facts, experience are the empirical basis of cognition.
