PROVERBIAL CHARACTERISTIC OF A HUMAN BEING IN THE TURKISH AND ENGLISH LANGUAGES: STRUCTURAL-SEMANTIC AND LINGUISTIC ANALYSIS

Abstract. Using the method of linguistic description the article analyzes Turkish and English proverbs with modal-evaluative content, which is focused on a human being. The provided analysis allows identifying the common, universal in the proverbs from the viewpoint of their structure, semantics and linguistics: common structural type with the imperative mood; the presence of archaic words and forms; the evaluative characteristic of a human being along with the didactic-educational and moral content. Among the distinctive features of English proverbs the authors mention the dominance of structural type with imperative mood and the absence of proverbs with the pronouns I and we.
