CONCEPTUAL VARIABILITY OF THE LINGUOCULTURAL CATEGORIES "ALIENNESS", "FOREIGNNESS", "STRANGENESS"

Abstract. The article provides a detailed analysis of the concepts "alienness", "foreignness", "strangeness" as the categories to interpret reality under the conditions of multi-national society. The author examines and describes the relevant approaches to defining these concepts from the viewpoint of their linguistic, culturological and philosophical essence. Relying on the semantic and contextual analysis of the lexemes "alien", "foreign", "strange" in the Russian and German languages the researcher identifies their differentiating features, proposes the scale of their cognitive gradation.
