Abstract. The article reviews the main methods of teaching a foreign speech, analyzes the possibilities of their use in a non-linguistic institution of higher education. The paper highlights the main linguodidactic features of the leading methods of foreign languages teaching. Particular attention is paid to the peculiarities and methodical difficulties of application of the communicative teaching method, which is now considered to be the most promising one.
