SPORT NOMENCLATURE OF THE MODERN GERMAN LANGUAGE (BY THE EXAMPLE OF COMPOUND NOUNS WITH COMPONENTS-ABBREVIATIONS)

Abstract. The article presents the results of the study of certain groups of compound nouns for sports subject area, namely complex formations with components-abbreviations selected from the texts of contemporary German sports journalism. The study is based on the thesis about the selection of nomenclature signs in special vocabulary. The noun composites with components-abbreviations are viewed as key elements of modern German sports nomenclature. The structural features of compound nouns of this type are thoroughly analyzed in the article for the first time, besides their lexical-thematic groups are described as well.
