AUTHOR’S METAPHOR AND SPECIFICS OF ITS TRANSLATION (BY THE MATERIAL OF THE NOVEL BY M. LEVY "ET SI C’ETAIT VRAI..." AND ITS TRANSLATIONS INTO THE RUSSIAN, ITALIAN AND ENGLISH LANGUAGES)

Abstract. The article examines the conception of metaphor, its types and its difference from the comparison. The author provides comparative analysis of the novel by M. Levy "Et si c’?tait vrai…" and its translations into the Russian, Italian and English languages. The paper analyses the adequacy of transferring author’s metaphor and its variations (synesthesia, personification, metaphorical comparison) into the language of translation. Finally the researcher summarizes the findings of the study and makes conclusions.
