Abstract. The article examines the imitation of calquing in the novel by Ursula K. Le Guin "Always Coming Home", in which an unusual literary-stylistic technique of translation from a nonexistent language is used. Appearing in such translation metonymies, metaphors, deformations of collocations and phraseological units, author’s neologisms, unusual combinations of tenses, etc. convey the specificity of the world view of the fictional people Kesh, which is the ideal of spiritual development for the author of the novel.
