CONCEPTUAL METAPHOR IN THE CANADIAN LINGUISTS’ METALANGUAGE

Abstract. This article analyzes the conceptual metaphor, representing the linguistic phenomena - Anglicism and archaism - in the Canadian linguists’ metalanguage. The study was performed within the framework of a new approach to the identification of the specificity of the French language variants. Described metaphorical models show a different perception of the phenomena under analysis by the Canadian authors. The conclusion is that the metaphor in the metalanguage of linguistics is a way of conceptualizing the scientific notions and means of their interpretation.
