INFINITIVE SENTENCES AS EXPLICATOR OF MODAL MEANINGS IN THE RUSSIAN PROVERBS

Abstract. The article considers infinitive sentences in the Russian proverbs. Infinitive sentences are analyzed as a means of formation of generalized semantics of the Russian proverbs. Proverbs are referred to folklore genres and are a popular saying with a brief didactic sense. They represent the wisdom of people, everyday working experience and cover all aspects of people’s life. This article describes the different modal meanings ??expressed by an independent infinitive in the language of proverbs. The co-authors show that the generalized semantics of proverbs in the form of infinitive sentences is formed by the structure, timelessness and uncertainty of the person. The following Russian illustrations are taken from the Russian-Persian dictionary of proverbs and sayings by Farsadmanesh, the Persian-Russian dictionary of proverbs, sayings and popular expressions by Kurogly and the dictionary of proverbs of the Russian people by Dal.
