NUMERAL IN THE FUNCTION OF ATTRIBUTE IN THE KUMYK LANGUAGE IN COMPARISON WITH THE ENGLISH ONE

Abstract. In the article the author conducts the study of the numeral, which performs the function of attribute in the compared Kumyk and English languages. Researching the works of scientists on the topic of the paper one can come to the conclusions that in the compared languages numerals are divided into two types: cardinal and ordinal. The peculiarity of the English language is manifested in the transfer of sequence order when years, pages or book chapters are mentioned. Differences also occur in the process of the formation of fractional numerals. For both languages prepositive position in relation to the attributed word is typical. The formation of decimal numerals in both languages occurs differently.
