ANTONYMY IN THE ENGLISH TERMINOLOGY OF PETROLEUM ENGINEERING

Abstract. The article examines the process of terminological antonymy the essence of which involves identifying the opposite conceptions in the special sphere of knowledge - terminology of petroleum engineering. Opposition of the conceptions is considered as a link of the terminological system aimed to define its logical potentials. The paper presents lexical analysis of the terms of petroleum engineering with the examples of the antonyms classified according to the semantic classes; the author focuses on the grounds for the opposition of the conceptions.
