Abstract. This paper examines the signs of intertextuality in the form of allusions for the Bible in F. M. Dostoevsky’s novel "Crime and Punishment" and its translation into Polish. The peculiarity of this theme is in the confrontation of two cultures and - on the other hand - the universal authority, that is undoubtedly the Bible. It happens that allusions in the text of translation may be less clear or, on the contrary, more clear than in the original. All this relate not only to differences within cultures, which include both texts, but also to the language capabilities of original and translation.
