SELF-IDENTIFICATION OF THE BEARERS OF RUSSIAN AND TATAR LINGUO-CULTURES IN THE REPUBLIC OF TATARSTAN

Abstract. In the context of the modern processes of globalization the problems of integration of nations, cultures and languages are among the most acute and burning linguo-social problems. In this aspect the topicality of the declared subject is conditioned by the inclusion of the bearers of a certain linguo-culture into the problem of language policy, interethnic relations and ethnic self-identification. The authors of the article aim to identify certain peculiarities of self-identification of a linguistic personality by gathering and analyzing linguo-cognitive associations of the representatives of the two titular ethnic groups of the Republic of Tatarstan, bearers of Russian and Tatar languages. Method of associative experiment allows not only drawing the mental self-portrait of the Russians and Tatars but also identifying certain problems and issues conditioned by extra-linguistic factors, in particular, territorial community and everyday contacts.
