PHENOMENON OF STYLISTIC PARADOX IN MODERN LINGUISTICS

Abstract. The article considers the content of the notion "paradox", which is a very controversial and little studied issue in linguistics, and thus attracts the attention of linguists. Such studies were carried out on the basis of the English and Russian languages, but the phenomenon of paradox has been little and incompletely studied in German. The author gives a definition of this notion from the perspective of different disciplines and focuses on describing the functions of the paradox as a stylistic phenomenon, characterizes its classifications on various features, and notes the main groups - the breaking of style, form and content discrepancy and parody means.
