ONCE MORE ON THE "THEORY OF THREELINGUISM"

Abstract. The article examines some aspects of the famous "theory of threelinguism" which in many ways determined the destinies of Biblical translation in medieval Europe. In the Catholic Church where "the theory of threelinguism" for a long time had been an official doctrine, it was actually abandoned in the epoch of Reformation. Orthodox Church always treated it negatively. But the discussion on the acceptability of using Russian language in the divine service unfolding over the last decades motivated some authors to revise some aspects of this problem.
