Abstract. The article is devoted to one of the most significant phenomena of the Portuguese culture - the city romance of Lisbon and Coimbra - "Fado". This genre practically is not studied in native linguistics. The article analyzes the poetic aspect of traditional and more recent fado - the samples of folklore genre, experienced a serious impact of book tradition. The author has already considered such aspects of fado as the representation of different culture concepts in it, the use of key metaphors, the features of the Portuguese city romance as a piece of music. This article, which is a part of the study, is devoted to the analysis of fado as a poetic work.
