EXPRESSIVE FUNCTION OF ENGLISH ARGOT IN LITERARY TEXT

Abstract. The author considers the problem of determining the place of the English argot in a literary text, describes the main functions of argot in a literary text, analyzes the expressive function of the English argot by the example of a detective novel by J. H. Chase, and pays considerable attention to the expressive function of the English argot as a means of enriching the language of works of fiction.
