NON-CATEGORICAL AFFIRMATION AND NEGATIVE IN DIALOGUE TEXT (BY THE MATERIAL OF THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE)

Abstract. The author considers non-categorical affirmations and negatives in a dialogic text from the perspective of dicteme theory. In a dialogic text these sentences as dictemes or components of dictemes perform the functions of thematization and stylization by transferring the connotations of subjective nature associated with the features of bilateral speech communication: unwillingness to answer the question directly, uncertainty, doubt, distancing etc.
