Abstract. The author reveals some features of the English terms polysemy, which by definition are monosemantic, gives the comprehensive definition of the notion "term", by the example of polysemantic terms reveals the cases of their use in various spheres of science and technology, and disproves the independence of terms from linguistic and extralinguistic context types.
