Abstract. The article considers the notion of "cultural opposition", discusses how it is manifested in the language, and what the reason of its manifestation is; and shows how lexical units acquire additional meaning, which is antonymic to their main lexical meaning. The examples of antonymic homonymy on intralanguage level (by ??the example of the English language – the Black English and the "standard" English) are given, as well as the examples of how language, as one of the main elements of negative psychological attitude formation, serves for the formation of negative national and ethnic stereotypes.
