Abstract. The author reveals the main features of garden topos in the poetics of the Russian fantastic story of the first third of the XIX th century by the example of A. Pogorel'skii’s stories, and defines garden topos as a multi-sided symbol and as a significant category of the artistic world of a work, linking the author and the narrator, describing the characters, being the attribute of both worlds: the real and the other ones.
