CHEKHOV’S DRAMA "THREE SISTERS" AS PARAPHRASE OF LERMONTOV’S POEM "THREE PALMS"

Abstract. The author for the first time considers Chekhov’s drama "Three Sisters" as the paraphrase of Lermontov’s ballad "Three Palms", by specific examples proves and explains the similarity of plot situations and the problematic of the works under consideration, which is conditioned, in her opinion, by the proximity of Lermontov and Chekhov’s types of world-attitude, the writers’ existential feelings, and emphasizes that her observations on the features of Lermontov and Chekhov’s historiosophical views are of particular interest.
