Abstract. The article reveals the notion "symbol" and its reconsideration in the phraseological fund of the three languages having different structures - the French, English and Russian languages. In this article the comparison of the meaning of phraseological units with the components "swallow' and "sparrow" in the analyzed languages is carried out.
