Abstract. The article examines activity approach to foreign-language teaching in comparison with competence-based and person-oriented approaches, identifies their common features. The author analyzes potentials of using active teaching methods (station teaching, learning through teaching and free learning) in the future foreign-language teacher’s training. According to the researcher, using the mentioned methods in the teacher’s training process should promote formation of his/her professional competence.
