Abstract. The article reveals the characteristic peculiarities of the process of teaching a second foreign language; the experience of its organization by the example of Novosibirsk State University of Economics and Management is presented. Some aspects of teaching and studying a second foreign language, particularly, the French language are examined, on the basis of the first foreign language - English; the didactic maintenance of the course enabling the formation of steady communicative competences in students while applying contemporary educational technologies is analyzed.
