A. K. TOLSTOY AS A METAPHYSICIAN IN THE DRAMATIC POEM "DON JUAN"

Abstract. In the article a statement, which was expressed in due time by V. S. Solovyev and has not attracted the attention of researchers until now, that in the dramatic poem "Don Juan" the well-known Russian poet A. K. Tolstoy showed his worth as a bright religious metaphysician possessing the exceptional consistency and firmness of thought, is developed and defined concretely. Thereupon the solution of the most important religious-philosophical problems, in the artistic form suggested by A. K. Tolstoy in this work, - ontological questions, the theme of freedom and the man’s responsibility - is examined. The peculiarities of the comprehension of good and evil by the poet, his concept of love as ecumenical metaphysical power are examined.
