TEACHING FOREIGN LANGUAGES IN NON-LINGUISTIC HIGHER EDUCATION ESTABLISHMENTS FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF COMPETENCE-BASED APPROACH

Abstract. The article substantiates the use of competence-based approach in teaching a foreign language to students of technical higher education establishments. The meanings of the notions "competence" and "competency" are revealed. Particular attention is paid to the description of innovative approaches to the organization of practical training, such as modeling of communicative situations, attracting students to project and research work, conducting business games and group discussions in a foreign language.
