Performance “Memorial Prayer” by M. A. Zakharov: Plot, composition, genre, mode of acting

Abstract. The aim of the study is to determine a set of directing techniques, on the basis of which M. A. Zakharov staged G. Gorin’s play “Memorial Prayer” (Lenkom, 1989). The reconstruction and analysis of Zakharov’s performance made it possible to specify the content of the terms of his stage poetics: genre, plot, composition, mode of acting, etc. The scientific novelty lies in studying Zakharov’s directing methodology, in determining the main characteristics of M. A. Zakharov’s directing. As a result, it has been proved that “Memorial Prayer” is one of M. A. Zakharov’s program performances, where his directing is most fully realized.
