Competence-Based Approach to Organizing Pedagogical Students’ Autonomous Work on Foreign Language (by the Example of Home Reading)

Abstract. The paper aims to justify relevance of the competence-based approach to organizing students’ autonomous work on a foreign language. The author defines the notions "competence", "competency" and "autonomous work", justifies the important role of students’ autonomous work on a foreign language in the process of competences formation. Scientific originality of the study lies in the fact that students’ autonomous work on a foreign language is looked upon through the lens of the competence-based approach and is considered a more efficient form of educational process organization. The research findings are as follows: the author proposes a way of organizing pedagogical students’ autonomous work on a foreign language taking into account formation of their professional and personal competences.
