Abstract. The article deals with the problem of specific features of social and humanities knowledge in two aspects: firstly, difference between social and humanities knowledge and natural sciences and, secondly, difference between the humanities and social fields of knowledge. In relation to the first aspect, the author notes that it is impossible to represent social and humanities knowledge in clear standards of natural science. Concerning the second aspect, it is pointed out that understanding of interconnection of social structures and the personality, which is expressed in the problem of division of social and humanities knowledge, depends on transformation of the society itself.
