Abstract. The article reveals the basic factors influencing the formation of the policy of neutrality from its adoption in 1815 till Switzerland’s joining the UNO in 2002. The author pays special attention to internal and external indicators promoting the change of this foreign policy of Switzerland Confederation. The paper presents an analysis of the basic stages of the development and transformation of the policy of the neutrality of Switzerland through the lenses of its relations with the UNO and the EU.
