Abstract. The article presents a social-philosophical reflection on the nature and specificity of ethnic and social conflicts. The comparative analysis of the civilization and post-modernist conceptions of social dynamics is carried out in order to ascertain the nature and specificity of ethnic and social conflicts in different types of societies (traditional, industrial, informational). The need to develop the tools of social control under the conditions of global social changes trends development in recent decades is revealed.
