STRUGGLE AGAINST BRIBES IN RUSSIA OF THE TIMES OF CATHERINE THE GREAT AND F. A. EMIN’S EULOGISTIC UTOPIA

Rostovtseva Yuliya Aleksandrovna
Maxim Gorky Literature Institute

Abstract. The article is devoted to the novel by F. A. Emin "Themistocles’s Adventures" (1763) - the first Utopia, written in the reign of Catherine II. In the center of the study is the controversy with the famous American scientist S. L. Ber, ??who believed that in his work Emin unmasked the Empress’ anti-corruption inaction. Basing herself on the composition originality (the author's dedication to Her Imperial Majesty), historical and legal context of the 60s of the XVIII century, the author proves that the "Adventures" is not satirical, but eulogistic utopia.
