Abstract. The author reveals the phenomenon of regulative modal references from the point of linguistic pragmatics: defines more exactly the notion and the means of their explication, by the material of the Cossack discourse illustrates the progress and results of linguo-pragmatic analysis of regulative modal references, and also presents the hierarchy of their types.
