“Singing about the germination of the world” by Boris Filanovsky: Musical reading of Pavel Filonovʼs poem

Abstract. The article is devoted to the analysis of the vocal and symphonic creativity of B. Filanovsky. The purpose of the study is to reveal the features of composer’s writing using the example of an composition “Singing about the Germination of the World”. Scientific novelty is due to the fact that Boris Filanovsky’s “Singing about the germination of the world” is considered for the first time in the aspect of the interaction of the literary basis and techniques of compositional writing. The work of B. Filanovsky is specifically studied in a comprehensive manner from the point of view of genre specifics, stylistic features, and technical features of performance. Based on the poetic work, B. Filanovsky, preserving the classically established type of oratorio with a numbered structure, creates a complex vocal-symphonic composition, rich in innovative performing techniques. As a result of the study, the fact is substantiated that the choral composition under consideration becomes the most important in the context of the composer’s vocal and symphonic creativity.
