Chinese chamber ensemble with piano in dialogue with the European genre model

Abstract. The aim of the research is to characterize the typical features of the Chinese chamber instrumental ensemble with piano by comparing it to the European model of the genre. The article examines the piano ensemble as the dominant type of chamber genre in China and identifies the main genre-forming factors that contribute to its uniqueness. The scientific novelty lies in the characterization of a complex of objective reasons that have defined the originality of the Chinese piano ensemble. The research demonstrates that, based on the Western prototype of the genre, Chinese composers enrich it with the national characteristics: a tendency towards objective forms of expression, changes in the functional role of the piano, an emphasis on programmability, and exploration of the realm of the national language by drawing on traditions of Chinese folk and theatrical music.
