The Russian Caricature of the XX Century as Representation of Political Reality: Social and Philosophical Aspect

Abstract. The research objective is as follows: to provide a social and philosophical analysis of interrelations of the state and political caricaturists. In fact, micro-climate of caricaturists’ relations with the state power serves as an indicator of social freedom/unfreedom level. Scientific originality of the study involves analyzing the state distinctive features which can be described using humorous tools. It is shown that satire and humor are efficient means to influence political consciousness. As a result, it is proved that an analysis of artists’ critical views represented in political caricatures contributes to better understanding the state ideology and development vector.
