Abstract. The study aims to analyse the issue of loneliness in the context of its escalation due to the events related to the COVID-19 pandemic in order to determine the range of issues that need to be resolved. If they are resolved, a positive direction for the development of the situation with loneliness will be taken. The paper focuses on the methods of social solidarity, determining its applicability in the fight against loneliness. Scientific novelty of the study lies in identifying the range of the main problems requiring resolution, which prevent formation of social contacts among people during the pandemic. At the same time, these problems are highlighted through the lens of the solutions based on the principles of social solidarity. As a result, the issues that require attention are identified and examples of actions that contribute to restoration and preservation of social contacts are proposed.
