The article specifies the concept "freedom" with regard to electronic virtual reality. The researchers identify the ontological structure of the concept "freedom" and provide rationale for various capabilities of freedom in the "hard" and "soft" world. Novelty of the study amounts to the authors’ idea that the ontological aspect of freedom is formed as a dispositional formation at the junction of the mode of the world and the mode of the man. The authors’ concepts "soft" and "hard" world serve as characteristics of the mode of the world. The result of the study is a conclusion that the amount of human freedom under the conditions of electronic virtual reality has increased. But this has generated a new kind of danger for the humanity, as negative aspects of an individual’s inner world prevail in the setting of activation of human consciousness.
