Abstract. The paper aims to reveal specificity of formation and functioning of social and humanities concepts in the context of modern scientific rationality. The article examines correlation of the concepts dynamics and dynamics of disciplinary structure of social sciences and the humanities, processes of knowledge institutionalization; shows influence of interdisciplinarity on the concept formation; describes means of conceptualization in modern practically oriented humanities studies; analyses refusal from logical fetishism as an efficient means to destroy social and humanities concepts. Scientific originality of the study lies in the fact that the author analyses the concepts representing individual sociality by the material of micro-history. As a result, it is shown that in social sciences and the humanities focused on studying a particular social or cultural phenomenon, the concept formation occurs not through generalization and typification but through construction of a social micro-world on the basis of personal, professional, cultural experience of a humanitarian, and their intuition plays a key role in choosing a research subject.
