Aristotele Fioravanti: Renaissance Genius in the Context of Medieval Russia

Abstract. The article examines the Italian architect Aristotele Fioravanti’s creative work through the lens of intercultural dialogue between the Italian Renaissance and medieval Russia. Scientific originality of the study lies in the fact that Aristotele is for the first time considered as a universal genius of the Renaissance. The researcher analyses Aristotele’s heritage perception in the Russian culture, describes a complicated system of social relations Aristotele get involved in during his stay in Moscovia. The research findings are as follows: the author proves that, in spite of differences in worldviews, artistic dialogue between the Renaissance genius and medieval Russia was successful.
