Aristotele Fioravanti and His Role in Formation of Moscow Kremlin Ensemble in the XV-XVI Centuries

Abstract. The paper reveals Aristotele Fioravanti’s role in formation of Moscow Kremlin ensemble in the XV-XVI centuries. The article examines reasons to invite Fioravanti to Moscow, analyses the Italian period of his activity, special attention is paid to the architectural decisions implemented in Moscow Kremlin ensemble. Scientific originality of the study lies in the fact that Moscow period of Fioravanti’s activity is for the first time considered as effect of different factors - historical and political situation in Moscow Rus, artistic and ideological principles of the Italian Renaissance. The research findings are as follows: the author proves that Fioravanti’s creative conceptions influenced the Russian architecture development and laid a foundation for a large-scale reconstruction of the whole ensemble.
