Abstract. The article analyses a model developed by the famous English theologian and scientist J. Polkinghorne to describe interrelations of the modern Christian theology and science. J. Polkinghorne’s conception is based on the thesis that formation of an adequate and holistic worldview is possible only through cooperation of theology and science. In this connection, the researcher identifies common and specific features, potentials and limitations of scientific and theological vision. The existing similarities justify the necessity for cooperation of science and theology. Scientific originality of the paper lies in the fact that for the first time in the domestic religious studies, the researcher provides a comprehensive analysis of J. Polkinghorne’s conception, reveals its basic provisions and supporting arguments.
