Legal Awareness as Factor in Reducing Extremist Sentiment among the Russian Youth

Abstract. The study aims to determine the influence that the level of legal awareness has on extremist sentiment among the Russian youth. The work is novel in that it proves that legal awareness as an invariant of reducing nihilism will be able to influence the younger generation’s tendency to join organisations of extremist and terrorist nature. As a result of the study, the author has justified the need to improve the level of legal culture, since it is a necessary condition for education of an individual as a full participant in social relations. All of this will contribute not only to development of legislation, social stability but also to fulfilment of civil rights and liberties. However, all the social institutions - family, school, university, public organisations and associations, state authorities, etc. - should take part in this process.
