The Modern Chinese Historiography on Religious Views of Hulunbuir Region’s Ethnic Minorities

Abstract. Relying on the modern Chinese historiographical sources, the author tries to reveal a religious situation among ethnic minorities of the Hulunbuir region. The study focuses on analysing the Buddhist and shamanistic practices among the aboriginal ethnic groups. Scientific originality of the paper lies in the fact that the researcher considers a poorly investigated problem and introduces the latest findings of the Chinese scientists into scientific circulation. The following conclusions are justified: the multi-ethnic, cross-border Hulunbuir region is distinguished by religious diversity, Buddhism and shamanism significantly influenced formation of spiritual culture of the region’s ethnic minorities.
