Organization of Hunting in Yakutia in the 1990s: Fur Harvesting Activity of the National Concern "Sakhabult"

Abstract. The article examines fur harvesting activity of a national concern "Sakhabult" (Sakha Republic) in the early post-Soviet period (the 1990s). Scientific originality of the study lies in the fact that relying on archival sources the author analyzes the formation and harvesting activity of "Sakhabult" national concern from the viewpoint of its involvement into traditional harvesting activities of regional hunting farms. The research findings are as follows: fur harvesting dynamics in the analyzed period was unstable, organizational conclusions regarding concern’s fur harvesting activity were quite rational, but the problems facing the concern and hunting farms were conditioned by financial and socio-economic factors.
