A. I. Neidhardt’s Measures to Spread the Russian Influence in the North-Caucasian Region in 1842-1844

Abstract. The paper examines motives to introduce and implement political measures to spread the Russian influence in the Caucasus region at the beginning of the 1840s. The author considers views of the Russian authorities on the Caucasian problem and General A. I. Neidhardt’s measures to implement the government’s policy. Scientific originality of the study lies in the fact that the researcher suggests a systemic approach to analysing political measures, proposes to differentiate social and political aspects of the investigated problem. The conclusion is made that with A. I. Neidhardt, Russia developed and approved the Caucasian strategy, the implementation of which resulted in the end of the Caucasian war.
