Religious Subject-Matter of Artworks from the Collection of Grand Duke Konstantin Konstantinovich as Representation of His Personality

Abstract. The article describes the collection of artworks gathered by Grand Duke Konstantin Konstantinovich (1858-1915). The author examines the little-known artworks on religious themes stored in the funds of Omsk Regional Museum of Visual Arts named after M. A. Vrubel, comments on them and identifies some common features indicating Grand Duke’s preferences in art. Scientific originality of the paper lies in the fact that the researcher introduces new fact-based and artistic material into scientific circulation. The conclusion is made that Grand Duke’s personal qualities, his religiosity, adherence to poetry influenced his choice of artworks.
