Chopin’s etude Op. 10 № 5 within the framework of the established performance tradition, to describe Chopin performers’ style. The researchers’ attention is focused on such issues as diversity of the expressive means used by Chopin performers, the basic features of Chopin performance tradition. Scientific originality of the study involves a comparative analysis of different interpretations of the same composition, which allows better understanding of the performer’s personality and creative image. The following conclusions are justified: in post-romantic Chopin performance tradition, the virtuosic element prevails over the sensual one; richness of the composer’s figurative palette leads to diversity of the performer’s interpretations.
